This was a layout I put together while working for a midtown jewelry designer in Manhattan. As senior designer in the marketing department I was allowed to come up with some ideas for branding the lines of jewelry. The rings were retouched as separate files. Because we wanted to archive the photography we always kept the images of the rings as separate tiff’s at 300 dpi. This allowed up to have high resolution images ready for print whether it was for something big or small. Silhouetting was always done as well so these rings could be placed with any image. One thing I remember doing right away was to set up paths on the flowers. The color was okay from the original shot but I wanted to bring out the pink in the roses. I also set a path with the woman’s face so I could bring out the natural color of her skin. If your just starting out I would strongly recommend you get acquainted with the pen tool and your color levels. You’ll notice a huge different in quality when you start fine tuning great photography. Even if these changes are slight sometimes they bring the image to life.
