One of the things I’ve always appreciated growing up on Long Island was being near the ocean. Getting into photography only made me appreciate my surroundings that much more. Sometimes it can be too calm and that’s just about the time to take a trip to the city. But coming back to the cool breeze and open areas of the south shore is a nice welcoming. The image you see was shot on the south shore of Long Island at one of the beaches in my area. Editing the original photo was a breeze. With some simple adjustments in Photoshop CS3 I converted the image to black and white, adjusted the lighting, and added a soft lighting effect.
